Session layouts

Agent sessions can sit side by side in resizable splits, float over the workspace, or move into their own desktop windows. A session keeps its draft, transcript position, running turn and pending questions wherever you move it.

Open it from a pane’s header. It offers:

  • Split right or split down
  • Float or dock
  • Detach to a desktop window
  • Maximize or restore
  • Dock beside a chosen pane
  • Open an existing session beside the current one

The command palette has the same actions. The close button appears when a window holds more than one session pane.

Right-click an empty part of a session for pin and unpin, Stop generating, Jump to, Split session, Terminal and File Explorer. Buttons, links, inputs and embedded tools keep their own right-click menus.

Layout Arrangement
Manual Panes stay where you split, dock and drag them. The default.
Stack The first pane on the left, the rest stacked on the right.
Columns All panes side by side.
Grid Panes in rows and columns.
Monocle One pane at a time, the rest behind tabs.

CtrlAltL cycles through them.

Action macOS Linux
Previous or next pane ⌘⌥[ / ] CtrlAlt[ / ]
Focus the pane in a direction ⌘⌥Arrow CtrlAltArrow
Swap with the pane in a direction Ctrl⌥⇧Arrow CtrlAltShiftArrow
Make the focused pane the main pane Ctrl⌥Enter CtrlAltEnter
Float or dock Ctrl⌥F CtrlAltF

Terminal, editor and approval-card key bindings keep working inside their panes.

  • Drag a split divider to resize. Double-click it to reset.
  • Drag a floating pane by its header, and resize it from the lower-right grip.

Hiding a pane from the command palette keeps its agent running. Use Stop to stop the agent. Closing a detached window moves its sessions back to the main workspace.

Layouts, window positions and drafts come back when you restart. Detached windows are kept for reuse after their sessions return: minimized on Linux, hidden on macOS.
