Chat layouts
Three layouts control where the chat sits relative to the right panel (Agent, Explorer, Terminal and Browser).
| Layout | What you get |
|---|---|
| Tabbed | The default. Chats live in top tabs. |
| Sidebar | The chat in the center with the right panel docked beside it. The panel can collapse. |
| Split | Like Sidebar, but the panel is always docked and can’t collapse. |
Pick one in Settings > Appearance > Chat layout or from the command palette (Chat layout: Tabbed, Sidebar or Split). The CycleChatLayout action cycles Tabbed, Sidebar, Split. It has no default key.
With tiled panes
Section titled “With tiled panes”Session panes tile in all three layouts. In Sidebar and Split they share the chat area beside the right panel.
Monocle shows one pane at a time and keeps the panel’s state. In Split, Monocle is off: panes stay tiled beside the docked panel and their tabs render inside the workspace.
